Ten year old Winnie Foster decides to leave home one day and wanders into the woods adjacent to her house. She happens upon the Tuck family who has inadvertently discovered the secret of everlasting life. Unfortunately this secret has become a burden to them, rather than a blessing. Winnie assumes a crucial role in saving the Tucks and keeping their secret hidden from the rest of the world. Later, Winnie has to make the difficult choice between living forever or experiencing growth, development, and ultimately death, as a part of the natural cycle of all living things.
